Ed was born in Toronto and has lived his entire life here having given him the distinct advantage of understanding and appreciating the transformation of this great city to what it is now, and what it’s rapidly becoming – an international destination for investors and highly talented and educated immigrants alike, and being widely recognized for its tolerance, diversity and cultural exchange. The more complicated the world gets, the more attractive Toronto seems to become.
Ed began his real estate career right after completing a BSc in Pharmacology and Physiology, and then an MBA with emphasis on Marketing and Finance. During his real estate career he has worked in diverse disciplines from Corporate Executive level buying investment properties on behalf of pension funds, to Commercial Brokerage in selling apartment buildings under Power of Sale for institutions during the early to mid-1990's, to running his own brokerage in offering Office Leasing services to downtown companies and finally to the present, in working in Residential Brokerage in representing home owners and investors in the purchase and sale of single and multi-family residential properties. Over 25 years’ experience in the business has given him insight into market cycles and trends, a firm understanding of what makes a good deal and how to best negotiate it in the optimal outcome for his clients. In addition to an Ontario licensed Real Estate Broker, Ed is also an Instructor with the Toronto School Board mentoring those interested in getting started as Investors themselves and as a way of giving back to the community. |
Adrian has been involved in the financing of apartment buildings with one of the largest lenders specifically dedicated to financing apartment buildings across Canada, both insured (CMHC) and conventionally.
Starting his career, Adrian was involved in the valuation of large format retail assets across Canada. His analytical skills were honed underwriting and analyzing the economic and financial fundamentals of these complex assets on behalf of pension funds, institutional owners and developers. Transitioning to investment banking, he was exposed to valuation and analysis of all asset classes, the capital markets, investment sales and debt structuring. To understand more about commercial real estate and value creation, Adrian joined a boutique commercial real estate company with a focus on leasing. Through the years, he was exposed to different methods to create and improve value through leasing and re-positioning. This understanding proved invaluable as he began to invest directly in real estate. While learning, from hands on investing, what was necessary to transition properties from challenged and under-performing to strong wealth building assets, Adrian made a leap into the world of real estate finance. Gaining a footing, first as a broker then as a lender. It was this transition that allowed Adrian to step "behind the curtain" and become an "Insider". Not only was he able to see how lenders operate and make decisions, Adrian was involved in lending that was directed specifically at multi-family investments, both conventionally and insured (CMHC). Adrian provides acquisition, financing, asset management and analytical skills to support KPG’s investment program. |
Together Adrian and Ed have over 50 years of commercial and residential real estate experience and working collaboratively are able to draw on each other’s individual expertise. Investors can leverage this incredible value to their advantage compared to investing on their own or with most other “experts”.
KPG also offers the advantage of investing in larger multi-family properties that investors would otherwise not be able to on their own and with the confidence that the Managing Partners are investors as well and have “skin” in the game.
